Change Makers unlocking sustainability at Bodmin Jail
14.11.24
Last week our Clean Cornwall project hosted their autumn Change Maker event at The Bodmin Jail Hotel.
Clean Cornwall is an environmental project that works with communities to tackle the issue of litter and waste in Cornwall, they also run Change Makers - a business network which allows Cornish businesses to collaborate to reduce environmental impact.
Not only does Clean Cornwall provide support and advice for their Change Makers they host events to allow similarly minded businesses to network, collaborate and learn.
The event last week included a talk from Phil Clarke from Consciam on ‘From intent to action: how to create an impactful environmental reduction strategy for your organisation’. Phil’s talk was inspiring and gave a deeper insight into what we can all do to reduce our impact and allowed those present to share their experiences – with Brooks Estates and Cornwall Wildlife Trust sharing their experiences of Carbon Audits and other processes they have gone through.
The event also allowed Clean Cornwall to celebrate their work over the last year, all of which is achieved with vital support from their Change Maker businesses. They have:
Supported 1,568 volunteers
Registered 282 litter picks
Helped volunteers remove 1364 bags of litter from our environment
Created three more poo dogs with collaboration with CRCC’s Learn Your Way students
Worked with 17 different organisations from the marine leisure industry to collect hard to reach rubbish from our coastline
