Learning, inspiring and celebrating: CRCC All Staff Day
Last week our staff, volunteers and trustees attended an all staff meeting at Scorrier house: a day of learning, inspiration and celebration.
CRCC has three defined areas of work: Rural and Coastal, Carers and Wellbeing and Education and Training, however there are numerous projects that come under these three categories. With so many important projects and services being carried out it is rare for our teams interact with the whole staff; so regular staff days are valuable.
With so many services providing support to countless individuals across Cornwall it is important to take the time to come together and celebrate our successes! One of our trustees David Callaghan found the day useful: ‘The day proved to be extremely valuable, not only for the chance to engage with staff but also to witness first-hand the appreciation from everyone involved.’
Our CEO Katherine started the day off by introducing our guest speaker- Manda Brookman from Volunteer Cornwall. Manda gave an interesting talk on Environmental Sustainability and what changes we could make to reduce our negative impact. We then engaged in a group activity, developing ideas to reduce our carbon footprint, litter, water usage, paper usage… the talk and activity left us all feeling inspired.
Katherine then invited each of our projects to give a presentation on their work, giving us all a deeper understanding of the range of CRCCs valuable work. Not only did this allow us to understand more, but it gave us the opportunity to celebrate our successes! We celebrated the success of one of our students, Georgie, who has grown in confidence, gained skills and independence from his time in the Learn and Work Your Way programmes and through support from Proper Job has now started paid employment.
‘The words I took away from the day were community, impact and passion. It was evident in that room the passion that drives people to continue their role and help bring the people of Cornwall comfort and confidence - when they need it most. ‘
David Callaghan.
The day ended with group games and some incredible CRCC cakes!
