16.08.24

Litter pickers at Hayle Beach collected a whopping 27 bags of rubbish this Thursday. The event was organised by Hayle North Quay Developments and saw 35 volunteers come together including Hayle North Quay Development staff, local volunteers, CRCC staff and staff from the Cornish Oven who presented a cheque to Clean Cornwall.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Cornish Oven its owner, Giles Williams, decided to celebrate by ‘giving something back to the people that have been loyal and supported us for the 25 years’ explained Louise, The Cornish Oven Media Officer. ‘One of the categories was environment…we really wanted to give to a charity that made a difference to Cornwall, to everybody’. The Cornish Oven have donated £5,000 to Clean Cornwall as part of their celebratory ‘Thank you Cornwall’ campaign.

Clean Cornwall is extremely grateful for this donation; ‘This money will go a long way to help us to continue supporting our amazing community groups all around Cornwall’ says Naomi Gorvin, Clean Cornwall project lead.

The morning was a great success, with parts of the beach, industrial estate and roads being cleaned. The volunteers finished the pick at Gilbert’s Beach Bar and Kitchen for a complimentary coffee. Pasties were kindly provided by the Cornish Oven, with Percy the Pasty making a guest appearance!
