Students from CRCC’s Learn Your Way programme put on a show-stopping performance at Truro’s Lemon Quay In July 2024. Learn Your Way is a programme of study for individuals aged 16-24 who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The programme provides support and encouragement to the learners with events like this helping develop new skills and confidence. The programme currently has two bases, Penzance and Truro, providing support to over 30 students from the surrounding areas.

Six of our Truro students worked throughout the summer term attending weekly sessions with Becky from IgniteYou Cornwall to learn four dances to perform. The dancers decided on the dance tracks, with a loose theme of musicals and prepared outfits and props for the final performance.

The weeks of preparation came together for a brilliant performance that drew in a crowd! Involving learners in events such as this helps forge connections to the community- with performing in front of the crowd giving Truro an insight into the Learn your Way programme. Dance instructor Becky says ‘They have a voice like all of us and I think it’s really important for voices to be heard in order for a community to grow’.
