Change Makers Event - a morning of connection, action and collaboration
09.09.25
Last week our Clean Cornwall project hosted their latest Change Maker event at St Ives Community Orchard.
Clean Cornwall is an environmental project that works with communities to tackle the issue of litter and waste in Cornwall, they also run Change Makers - a business network which allows Cornish businesses to collaborate to reduce environmental impact.
Not only does Clean Cornwall provide support and advice for their Change Makers they host events to allow similarly minded businesses to network, collaborate and learn.
The Clean Cornwall team invited their Change Makers and partners to the beautiful St Ives Community Orchard & Nature Reserve for a morning of connection, action and collaboration.
The day started with a litter pick of the Palemon Best Recreational Park, Skate Park and surrounding area. Clean Cornwall lead Emily then gave a talk on the progress Clean Cornwall has made in reducing litter and waste in Cornwall, all of which is achieved with vital support from the Change Maker network. So far this year Clean Cornwall has:
Engaged with over 4,000 volunteers
Registered over 300 litter picks and beach cleans
Helped volunteers remove 1700 bags of litter from our environment
Phoebe and Elise from St Ives Community Orchard then gave a talk on how the community-led project has evolved since it started in 2013. The group then enjoyed a tour of the orchard and learnt about the incredible range of fruit trees as well as fruiting bushes, wildflowers, wild grasses, medicinal plants, perennial vegetables and woodland trees on site.
