Welsh Animateur Pilot Project Attend Stronger At Sea Events

29.01.26

Last month the Animateurs attended SeaFit’s ‘Stronger at Sea’ events across South Wales to meet fishermen and offer free support in applying for the Welsh Marine and Fisheries Scheme. The team attended Stronger at Sea events in Saundersfoot and Swansea alongside a range of other organisations offering support as well as carrying out harbour visits in Solva and Fishguard.

The Welsh Animateur Pilot Project is a partnership project between Welsh Government, The Welsh Fisherman’s Association and Cornwall Rural Community Charity’s Fishing Animateur team to provide Welsh Fishers and Aquaculture sector with a dedicated service to support them with developing projects, writing and submitting grant applications.

At the Swansea event the team were delighted to meet Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs, Huw  Irranca-Davies, as well as Jim Evans, chief executive of the Welsh Fisherman’s Association.

The Fishing Animateur project is delivered by the Cornwall Rural Community Charity (CRCC). The Animateur’s work would not be possible without the financial support of The Seafarers’ Charity, The Fishmongers’ Company, The Welsh Fishermen’s Association Cymdeithas Pysgotwyr Cymru, Welsh Government and Trinity House.
