This month the Carers Service attended a reception at County Hall in Truro to receive their nomination certificate.

Young Adult Carers are supported by the Cornwall Carers Service and provide a range of support including access to information, advice and guidance. They also carry out Carers needs assessments. The service aims to support transition age carers in their journey through adulthood by supporting them to establish a life outside of their caring role – for example the service helps provide access to short breaks and activities residential breaks.

Last week Young Adult Carers received a certificate for nomination for the Kings Award for Voluntary Service. The award was introduced in 2002 to shine a light on the fantastic work of voluntary groups across the UK - it is the highest honour a voluntary service can receive in the UK.

As lead of the Cornwall Carers Service, CRCC attended the reception to receive the nomination. “The Cornwall Carers service, along with its incredible staff, truly exemplifies dedication and excellence. Being nominated for such a prestigious award is a shining testament to their unwavering hard work and outstanding service and support it gives to young carers within Cornwall” Kate, Carers Wellbeing Practitioner.
